Automarshal 2.22 - New version of ANPR system

Recognition of number plates of Poland and Hong Kong was improved.

The classifier of vehicle types was added to the software. It can be used for describing the vehicle fleet of an enterprise or for marking and counting parking spaces.

A new type of video channel for parking monitoring was implemented. With the set frequency, the module recognizes number plates of vehicles parked in the field of view of the camera. When the car appears in a specified sequence of frames for the first time, the entry is recorded. When it disappears from the frames, an exit is recorded. The difference in the time of entry and exit of the vehicle is calculated and recorded as the duration of its stay in the parking lot.

For accurate operation of the parking monitoring video channel, the Control zones module was developed. It allows marking an unlimited number of control zones in the frame and defining in which zone the number plate was recognized.

Integration with the Numpass system for notifications and contactless payments at parking lots. Benefits of the new integration:

• contactless payment for parking without tickets and parking meters;
• absence of traffic jams at the entrance and exit to the car park;
• tracking and paying for parking via the Numpass mobile application;
• notification of the car owner without a phone number, correspondence and calls in case of blocking the road or vehicle impoundment.

In the new version of Automarshal, support for ADAM I/O devices was added. In addition, we implemented the possibility of adding devices which use the Modbus TCP protocol. This means that now you don’t need any addons in the software to connect a new device.

Other novelties in the version:

• grid added in video preprocessing settings
• window with a hotkey description was added to the Help

And now all the abovementioned in more detail:

Vehicle types classifier was added

A classifier of vehicle types was added to the recognition parameters settings. This functionality is experimental and available only for 64-bit (x64) Windows. The classifier model works on the basis of OpenVINO and is loaded dynamically if the classification of vehicle types is enabled on at least one video channel.

The following vehicle types are added by default:

• Bus
• SUV
• Truck
• Car
• Minibus
• Unknown vehicle type

The type assigned to the vehicle will be displayed in a separate column of the Recognition Log.

Parking monitoring video channel was added 

The new type of video channel is designed for tracking all plates of parked vehicles in the frame. A car is acknowledged as having entered the parking lot when it is found for the first time in a certain sequence of frames. When the vehicle disappears from the camera's field of view, its departure is recorded in the Recognition log as exit. The difference between the time of vehicle’s entry and exit is calculated and recorded as the duration of its stay in the parking lot.

Control zones module added

An unlimited number of control zones can be added and configured in the new module for each video channel. To do this, select zones in the frame and assign a number and description to each of them.

When the number plate is recognized, the control zone will be displayed in the Recognition log.

For each of the control zones, a report can be generated by means of selecting the appropriate parameter in the filter. You can also generate a general report for all zones, where the zone in which the vehicle was detected will be indicated in a separate column.

The Control zones module ensures the correct operation of the parking monitoring video channel. In addition, it can be used to count the number of serviced cars at each of the gas station dispensers or car wash boxes, and to solve other problems.

Integration with Numpass added

The integration with the Numpass system for notifications and contactless payments in the parking lots was added. In car parks where the Numpass system works, the vehicle driver will be able to pay for the service contactlessly using the application installed on his mobile phone.

How the integration works: After the vehicle plate has been recognized, Automarshal saves information about it in the database and displays it in the Recognition log. Then Automarshal sends a request to Numpass system to know if the vehicle’s driver is their client. If confirmation is recieved, Automarshal adds the plate to the Numpass access list. When a given vehicle leaves the parking space, Automarshal calculates the duration and cost of its stay and sends this data to Numpass. After parking fee has been charged, Numpass notifies Automarshal about it. And then the vehicle can leave the parking lot. All necessary actions (for example, opening a barrier) are configured in the Automarshal triggers.

The possibility to add I/O devices using Modbus TCP protocol was implemented

Now users can independently connect any I/O device that use the Modbus TCP protocol. All settings are made in the Device Control module.

Grid was added in video preprocessing settings

For excellent number plate recognition, the plate should be located horizontally in the frame. There are cases when the plate is at an angle and you need to align the horizon. For convenient alignment, a grid was added to the preprocessing settings.

The description of keyboard shortcuts was added to the Help
