Hot-rolled coils position control at the production line

Engineers at Mallenom Systems have developed a system to monitor the position of hot-rolled coils on the production line and detect their dangerous offset (up to and including falling). The order for such system has been received from Severstal PJSC. This system is based on two models of deep learning networks and it utilised the video stream from installed IP-cameras at the production facility.

The software monitors the position of the coils from two control points simultaneously. The system assigns the condition status to each coil, which ranges from “safe alignment” to “critical offset level” and “fallen”. The system makes the log entries for all changes in the condition status of each individual coil. This system has been implemented into the industrial environment in October 2019.
