Software component

The main part of the system is the VISCONT software, developed by Mallenom Systems using microservice architecture. This ensures scalability and ease of adaptation to the customer's specific production tasks.

The services included in the VISCONT software provide:

  • Acquisition of images from video sources (continuously or by signal)
  • Image analysis using video analytics algorithms and/or neural networks
  • Decision-making on the correctness of the obtained analysis results based on one or a series of images
  • Saving processing results and images to the database
  • Interaction of VISCONT services with each other
  • Interaction of VISCONT services with the external environment (API, controllers, input/output devices, MES, ERP systems, etc.) via various protocols and interaction methods
  • Visual display of data in the user interface with operator workstation

VISCONT uses modern computer vision and image analysis methods:

  • Recognition of markings using both classical algorithms and neural networks
  • Detection of surface, geometry, and structure defects
  • Analysis of textures, materials, and color
  • Deep learning for segmentation, detection, and classification tasks

Hardware

The system may include:

  • Industrial machine vision cameras, IP cameras, thermal imagers, laser 3D scanners, code scanners, etc.
  • Specialized and general industrial light sources
  • Video analytics servers for processing video streams and performing industrial control tasks, storing processing results in a database
  • Sensors, encoders, input/output modules for equipment integration, indication devices and operator notification systems
  • Printers, label scanners

How VISCONT works:

  • In manual mode, the operator selects the product type from a list in VISCONT software and starts a session; in automatic mode, the product type is received from an external system and startup is performed automatically
  • Product items moving along the line enter the control zone
  • Upon an external signal, one or a series of frames of the control object is formed
  • The obtained images are transmitted to the VISCONT software, where they are analyzed using video analytics algorithms, and based on the obtained video analysis results, VISCONT software makes a decision whether to accept an item, or decline it.
  • If requirements are met, the items continue moving along the line without system intervention. In case of non-compliance, VISCONT software transmits a signal for product rejection
